
Flora Jackson, the daughter of the late Bobbie and Haze Holder, was born in Carrolton, Alabama. January 12, 1917. She was called to join her sisters, who had passed before her on April 13, 2014.
Flora attended Carrolton Junior and Carrolton Hign School. She graduated from the following: The County Training School of Alabama, May 15, 1939; The Approved Registered School of Beauty Culture, in Detroit, Michigan, on December 12, 19454, where she owned and operated her own beauty salon. She later graduated from The Columbia Institute of Maternal, Infant, and Child Care, in New York City, on May 29, 1962. Also, Flora received a certificate of merit from the Caucus of The Manhattan Black District Leaders.
After moving to New York, she joined The Metropolitan AME Church where she gave her loyal support. While serving at the church, she was a member of The Helping Hand Club.
She later married Author Jackson in New York, where they remained together in a loving partnership until his death.
Flora was sassy, classy and spicy. She was an outgoing socialite. She enjoyed traveling, and made a special effort to spend time with her family. Flora had no children, but she was the mother to "all" of the nieces and nephews.
She leaves to mourn, the last of the eight sisters, Earline Brown, (Detroit, Michigan), who is 101 years old, her favorite nephew, Alphonso Mitchell (Jeannie), (Detroit, Michigan). She also leaves to mourn, two nieces, five great nieces and nephews,eleven great-great nieces and nephews, fourteen great-great-great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends, including Pat, who gave her unconditional support, and the child that she helped raise, Elizabeth, and many more.
