

Frederick Alexander Holmes entered this world on March 28. 1937, in New York City, as a Child of God and son to his loving parents, Isaiah and Ernestine Holmes; who have since rejoined their Heavenly Father and ventured home to glory.
“Freddie” as he was affectionately called, was a handsome, sharp dresser who loved listening to jazz music, and as a youth, was an avid stickball player.
“Freddie” attended James Fenimore Cooper JHS 120 and Seward Park High School. He enjoyed science-related subjects and upon graduating, he enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve in 1957 and was honorably discharged.
Soonafter, “Freddie” met and married his lovely, loving wife, Marcella Stephens. They were blessed with the birth of four (4) wonderful, loving children, Alan, Sonia, John and Sandra.
“Freddie” began his medical career at Bellevue Hospital as an operating room assistant and was eventually employed as a laboratory technician at NYU Medical Center where he retired after over 25 years of service.
“Freddie” attended First Corinthians Baptist Church and was a faithful congregant. Several years ago, “Freddie” relocated to Dover, Delaware, where he settled down with his loving life partner, Betty Gonzalez. After a brief, debilitating illness, Frederick Alexander Holmes was called home to glory.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, one brother, Eugene “Danny” Holmes and four sisters, Ida Titley, Rosalie Barker, Ernestine McMillan, and Margaret Bines. He is preceded in death by his late brothers, Joseph and James Holmes. He also leaves his wonderful loving grandchildren belonging to Alan Holmes and his wife, Stacie; Sonia Nelson and her husband, Robert; John Holmes and Sandra Hunter.
“Freddie” also leaves two great grandsons, six great granddaughters, seven godchildren, granddaughter-in-law, Katrice, grandson–law, Leonard and countless cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, friends, colleagues and admirers. “Freddie” will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
