Hector was employed in various jobs including Cafe Buon Giorno, Macy's, and Rite Check Cashing, before landing his dream job at the New York State Comptrollers Office in January 2006.He enjoyed working in the comptroller's office and had many close friends there especially Mel, Rhona and Mike. He was a member of the union CSEA.
Hector's proudest achievement was becoming an American citizen in May of 2008 and then voting for President in the fall election.
He is survived by his husband, Michael Morrison; his mother and father, Ana and Hector Barrera; his sisters, Yanira Barrera, Cecy Barrera, Doris Orellana and Daysi Castro. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved Maltese, Toby.
