Janice Fried died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 8, 1951. Jan was a beloved long-time partner of Joe Salvato, a devoted sister, aunt, cousin and much loved by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jan worked in the Hospitality Industry in New York City for over 50 years. She started first as manager at The Ravelled Sleave Restaurant and then as co-owner and manager of Steamers Landing Restaurant. She served on many boards and committees, notably AMAC, a charity for autistic children, the Battery Park City Development Committee, and many restaurant boards.
Jan was loved by so many friends and family for her wonderful spirit, warmth, compassion, kindness, and generosity. She was one of the most caring persons, always putting others before herself and touching so many lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel located at 1076 Madison Avenue, NYC on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
