Dear Jerry's Family,
A couple of decades ago, I was a equity research analyst on Wall Street covering the textile and apparel industry.  One company I kept close tabs on was Liz Claiborne, which meant I had extended conversations with Jerry and his colleagues.  I always found Jerry to be fair, thoughtful, very very bright, systematic, could crack a delightful (and sometimes gently conniving) smile.  He had a great sense of humor.  Most of all, he was always a gentleman.  Jerry was one of a kind.  I will always remember him fondly.  I'm sorry for your loss but can only assume he gave you years of wonderful memories that will sustain you for generations to come.

Louise and I went to Lederle Middle School back in the late 1960’s.  If I remember correctly, your family lived in a house near the Vernick’s and Geller’s.  When I opened the WSJ this morning,  I read your father’s obituary.  I am truly sorry for your loss.  This must be a difficult time for your family.

Sincere condolences to the family.  Mr. Chazen was a pillar in the garment industry as well as in the community.  I do not believe he ever forgot his Bronx roots, and he instilled dignity with his family and coworkers over the years.   May he rest in peace and may his family know that he was a good man to all.

A life well lived – a job well done.  Jerry (and Simona) have done so much for so many, individuals, organizations and causes.   As role models they are unsurpassed,  but nothing said in the service was more impressive than hearing the tributes of the grandchildren. I grew up in Pelham Manor, NY. The Riverside Chapel is such a lovely place for memories.

I loved the photography exhibit of the glaciers in Iceland. The display of the Shakespearean folios was wonderful to experience. The sculptures are moving and the work of new artists from around the world is inspiring. I love the story of the ever lasting pine trees up on their mounts out in front of the building.

I am grateful to Mr. & Mrs. Chazen for their generous gift to the Chazen Museum.  I have been a docent for over 16 years at the Chazen Museum and have been able to share the building and the wonderful art with  5-year-old  kids to people in their 90's.  The Chazen Museum  is a wonderful lasting gift to the University of WI, the people of WI, and to  the people who visit the museum from all over the world.  Thank you!

I only knew about Mr. Chazen due to his support for the campus art center (now the Chazen).   However, YEARS before that, I felt his influence through his work/investment with Liz Claiborne, Inc.  I first discovered the brand through Rupert Cornelius on State Street.   I hated clothes shopping when I was younger because it was so hard to find something to fit that also looked good.  It was the first time I found a consistent brand that was comfortable, stylish, fit well and was reasonable in cost.   Mr. Chazen's vision to invest in a young designer named Liz Claiborne made a difference.

Every semester I take University of Wisconsin history students to the Chazen Museum in Madison to examine, discuss and draw objects. For many it is a completely new experience. I appreciate the Chazens' generosity that has made it possible.

My most sincere condolences to the Chazen Family.  I had the privilege of knowing Jerry through several nonprofits in Rockland County.  His impact on the face of philanthropy in Rockland was palpable.  He will be missed.  An outstanding person through and through. 

Jerry,  you have touched so many lives.  Your entire family is a testament to you, your values, your love and your ever lasting advise.
Our lives have lost an incredible person but our memories will continue with us always.

Dearest Mr. Chazen,
You will be missed by all who were fortunate to know you.  A Renaissance Man, quiet and modest, but "Boy, you got the job done every time!   I always had a smile on my face after one of our little "talks". It was my honor and privilege to have known you for over 25 years.  You touched so many lives and made things easier and brighter for thousands of people. Brought them great Jazz Music too!  I will always remember you and miss you.
