FITZSIMONS – John Joseph passed away peacefully in his Manhattan home Friday, January 22 surrounded by his devoted wife of 39 years Diane, daughters Elizabeth, Bronwen, and Gael, their husbands, and his grandson Jack. He was 73. Born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan to parents Teresa Fitzsimons (née Collum) and John P. Fitzsimons, “John Joe” was raised in Woodside, Queens. Predeceased by his sister Maureen 33 years to the day, John is survived by his brother, Cornelius. John was founder and Chairman of Data Systems Computer Centre. John was Vice Chairman of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, for which he would annually paint the green line along the 5th Avenue parade route. He was the Almoner of the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Patrick’s Day Foundation, and also an active member of the Ireland US Council, the Knights of St. Patrick, and the American Ireland Fund.
