

Lydia Esther Montanez was a dynamic women who cherished the spirit and hope of young people. A dedicated educator with a passion to teach. Beloved mother, loving wife, and caring sister.
She was born in October 20, 1943, in Santuce, Puerto Rico, to Pablo Martinez and Rosaliea Borges. Lydia ,Wife of Santiago Rodriguez. Beloved Mother of Alice Vargas, Steve Montanez, and Janet Montanez. Loving grandmother of Ricardo Travieso, Jocelyn Montanez, Antonio Mc Call, Todd Vargas, Steve Montanez Jr. Luna Montanez, Krstyan Pablo Montanez. Great Grandmother to Ella Vargas. Proceeded in death by her husband Pablo Montanez.
In 1978 she received A.A.S degree from Bronx Community College. In 1981 she received a B.S.ED. From the city college of New York. In 1985 she received an M.S.E.D from The City College of New York. In 1995 she earned a 2nd M.S.E.D plus 30 credits towards a P.H.D. Lydia was a teacher at P.S 92 for 20 yrs. She retired from The NYC Board of Education, P.S. 92 in manhattan in 2006 and moved to The Dominican Republic. Her Philosophy of teaching was the encouragement of creativeness .Motivating children to achieve their highest aspirations. Lydia was outgoing and enjoyed life to the fullest with a sense of humor and a deep devotion to her family and children. Lydia was a woman of deep and abiding faith and was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.
