Peggy Anne Polikoff Bradt, an adoring wife and family matriarch, bridge partner, beach companion, co-worker and friend to hundreds, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 23, 2024, at the age of 91.
Born on November 25, 1932, in Winston-Salem, NC, to Benet and Margaret Polikoff, the family moved with brother Benet Jr. to Manhattan when she was five. From there she attended Spence, Emma Willard School, graduated from Smith in 1955, and never veered from being a consummate Upper East Sider, including two decades as the Executive Director of the Parents League of New York.
Peggy was married to Morris Bradt Jr. for 58 years, summering in Amagansett, NY, swimming with her friends and family at the Amagansett Beach Association, and later, wintering in their Vero Beach, FL home. Peggy’s passions abounded beyond the beach: art, museums, travels, tournament bridge, the next cocktail party. And she had a deep belief in the pervasive benefit of humor.
"Divine" was her highest accolade, bestowed on many an individual on many an occasion. Perhaps for her that was best epitomized by time at "her" ocean, on a day devoid of both waves and clouds, a smattering of her loved ones, and maybe some lobster, but certainly a glass of Prosecco.
She is survived by her sons George (Meg) and Rick (Marty), grandchildren George Jr. (Nancy), Peter (Elle), Avery, Serena, Reid and Ward, and great grandsons Everett, William, Owen and August. They, the rest of her family and her friends will remember Peg’s unbridled spirit and energy. Peg brought the joy of sunshine, love and raucous laughter to the lives of whomever she met. She was indeed forever young.
A memorial service to honor Peggy's life will be held at the Frank E. Campbell funeral home at 1076 Madison Avenue at 81st Street, on Saturday, March 30th at 11 am (family receiving from 10 am). There will be a burial service in East Hampton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amagansett Village Improvement Society, PO Box 611, Amagansett, NY 11930 in Peggy's memory.
