I am still in denial about my cousin Robert's passing. Despite the geographical distance that kept us from seeing each other often, I know what a wonderful son, brother, cousin, husband, and father he was. My heart aches after receiving the news earlier today. 

Tio Valento taught me to love our family regardless of how well we know each other. The mere fact that we share the same blood makes us connected. Our family may not be large, but my dad, Tio Valentin, and his children have always shown great love for one another. 

Rob has left us too soon. My heart goes out to his family, especially to Robinson, my dear cousin. May the power of God be with you, dear Rob. Now, you are free of pain and will enter eternal life with your beautiful smile. My love extends to all of our family and friends during this difficult time.

Rob had an infectious smile. Every time I saw him, it was like when we were little kids and teenagers joking around and no time went by. When we were teens, and many kids were going to little league, he and his Dad brought me along to practice with his baseball team.  Rob was a fantastic athlete. We also worked together in 2 different locations and he was always a pleasure to work with, always maintaining humor.  We always had fun joking around with my Dad when he came into the local Hardware Store. Thanks for being a good friend.  Gone too soon buddy. Will miss you. Condolences to your family. May you rest in eternal peace. 🙏

Robert was my classmate in Blessed Sacrament. I remember him as friendly and a good person. A certified baseball fanatic. My sympathy to Robinson and the Roca family in their loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. I live on the block and always enjoyed our conversations or just seeing him and having a friendly greeting. I will miss his gentle presence and wonderful manner.

Since we were toddlers wearing diapers our parents were friends even before we were born. 
In the early 70’s Robert’s grandmother rented a room in her apartment for us. This gave us the opportunity to live in a better neighborhood and we were very grateful. Sometimes Robert would come visit or I would go over his house 4 blocks away. I remember watching Walter Mercado (astrologer) on channel 41 with  Robert’s grandmother . When I went over Robert’s house I remember Valento teaching us the fundamentals of Baseball and Basketball in their back yard a memory that stayed with me till this day. I enjoyed 
Going to Robert’s baseball games ( part of 2 teams) when he played little league baseball in Randle’s island and Forest Hills Queens. We had the hook up with Robert’s cousin Debbie who worked at Shay Stadium and his Uncle worked for Con Ed for NY Mets tickets. We went to Yankee Stadium when Dave Winfield & Greg Nettles played for the Yankees. Valento took us to see The NY Knicks when Patrick Ewing was part of the team. Playing tackle football in the snow to playing stick ball at IS 44 school yard against Al Pacino one time.  There were so many memories it’s hard to express what Robert’s friendship ment to me in words . I probably wouldn’t of had much of a childhood memory without you brother I will miss you and never forget you RIP 🙏🏼

We were deeply saddened by the news of Robert’s passing. We owe a debt of gratitude to this kind hearted man who helped an elderly couple with no ‘handy man’ skills navigate life in an 1860’s Brownstone duplex. He was endlessly cheerful, incredibly skilled and so generous with his time. Cannot imagine the Upper West 70s without him! Our sincerest sympathies go to his family and friends.
