Shannah Rose Goldner, 56, of Manhattan died on October 8, 2022, after a two-year illness.
She was born July 26, 1966, in New York City, the daughter of George and Susan Goldner. Her father was a well-known producer and pioneer in the record industry which certainly contributed to her lifelong love of music. After her father’s untimely death, Shannah and her mother moved to Sydney, Australia– a city she loved and spoke of often.
Shannah came back to New York and became a journalist, first at the New York Post before moving to television where she found her true home. She joined the staff of “A Current Affair” and quickly impressed everyone with her encyclopedic knowledge of all things pop culture. Shannah also developed close friendships with her fellow producers, relationships she treasured and which sustained her throughout her life.
Although New York was always home, Shannah was bicoastal for a time, working at “Hard Copy”, “Good Morning America”, Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC, where she earned an Emmy for her work on “The Rachel Maddow Show.” Shannah was a universally respected booker and producer and a beloved colleague. The television news world will feel this loss.
Shannah is survived by her mother, Susan Lindsay, siblings Linda Perry, Bonnie Wasser and husband Martin, Cary Goldner and wife Joann, Mona Goldner and husband Joseph Diestel and Howard Goldner and wife Lynn. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara, her stepfather Ted, and her dog Orem. She is also survived by her dear cousins Jennifer Willette, Linda Poras, Iris Karp and countless friends on two continents whose lives she touched more than she ever knew.
Though her last wish was that there be no funeral service, her friends plan on raising a glass to her in the very near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloane Kettering in Shannah’s name.
