He was born on July 22, 1956, in Weymouth, Massachusetts and raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Tim attended St. Ann School and Cathedral Latin. He graduated a year early from Cleveland Heights High School in 1973 to attend John Carroll University in University Heights.
Tim took a long and winding path to finance as the Vietnam War was coming to an end. Among his endeavors, he worked at Bellefaire, a Cleveland facility for children and teens with social and behavioral issues, where he had a knack for connecting with kids. He then helped construct and manage the original Peabody’s music club and was active in Cleveland’s live music scene.
Tim went on to build a nearly 40-year career in institutional securities sales and trading at various brokerage firms starting out in bonds at McDonald & Co in Cleveland and Boston and moving over to equity sales at Bear Stearns and PBT/Kemper in San Francisco.
After spinal surgery in the early 90s, Tim took a leave of absence from the industry and scuba dived in Central America, practiced yoga/pilates and bar tended in downtown San Francisco.
He returned to institutional equity sales in San Francisco for a few years before transferring to New York in 2001 to lead sales and trading at HC Wainwright. That same year, he met his future wife Karen in Central Park during the aftermath of September 11th. They married in 2003 in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida.
For more than 20 years, through different jobs, 9/11 and the pandemic, Tim and his family proudly made New York City their home.
Tim’s greatest joy was his daughter Isabel and her world of ballet, friends, The Chapin School and more recently Cornell University. He was passionate about thoroughbred horse racing and Saratoga; spending time with his dog Miles at the park; playing his acoustic and electric guitars; and listening to all types of music – especially jazz and rock.
Tim was a voracious reader with a photographic memory; a master at trivia and Jeopardy; a wonderful chef who loved food and wine and did all the cooking for his family; and a walking encyclopedia of medical knowledge. He was a major sports fan, and enjoyed playing and watching golf, basketball and football, and in his earlier days snow skiing throughout the U.S. and riding his motorcycle on the open road.
