It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincent Frank Cardillo on February 24, 2026 in Morristown, NJ. Vincent touched many lives throughout his 97 years with his wisdom, humor, and love. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Vincent was born in New York on May 28, 1928 to parents Catherine and Michael Cardillo. As a young man, he embarked on a lifetime of learning and service. He attended Stuyvesant High School while caring for his father, who had become blind due to retinitis pigmentosa. Later, he entered the military where he proudly served as a clerk to Army officers while stationed in Germany. During his career at the New York State Department of Labor, he performed factory inspections to ensure worker safety and was very active in his union. In his retirement, he made sandwiches in a New York deli, taught a memory class to senior citizens, wrote dozens of short stories, and performed in musicals at his community center.
In addition to his parents, Vincent is preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Catherine A. Cardillo. He is survived by his dear partner, Ellen Davidow, his three children, William, Justina, and Michael, and his six grandchildren, William, Tyler, Cameron, Elizabeth, Ella and Benjamin.
A memorial celebrating Vincent’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm at Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home, 352 East 87th Street, New York, NY. A short service will begin at 12:30 pm. We invite all who knew and loved Vincent to join us in honoring his memory.
