Born in Drexel Hill, PA, to William B. and Ruth Joachim on March 13, 1949, Larry is also survived by his five siblings. His family moved to Bethlehem, PA, where he was active in sports and scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
A natural athlete, Larry engaged in track and wrestling in high school and college. He was the president of the Key Club in high school and Valedictorian of his class in 1967.
In 1971 he graduated from Princeton University with high honors and a major in philosophy. A law degree from the University of Michigan Law school followed. Several years later he received an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Larry established a solo law practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where he resided with his wife and children. He spent time in a bungalow in Lake Huntington, New York, in the summers.
Always willing to give his time – year in and year out -- whether it was to coach kids in soccer and basketball, or to help out at church, and in his summer community, Larry contributed much to his friends, the neighborhood, and the organizations he belonged to.
He served the First Baptist church as a member of the board of trustees for many years, in addition to serving on various committees, and singing in the choir.
His friendly nature, quick mind, and devotion to service will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1st at 2pm at First Baptist Church (265 W. 79th Street, New York, NY).
The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the ASPCA in his honor.
