Bill was so inspirational to all of us on the FES research team.  We always looked forward to his visits to our lab.  His clever wit, his warm and friendly personality, his optimism and encouragement were such a blessing to all of us. It was so obvious that he loved his family and cared about people.  We will miss him very much.

Bill was my mentor.  He was kind, patient, thoughtful, smart and as we all know incredibly funny.  He was a wonderful listener, problem solver and creative thinker.  He was a bright light and a joy to be around. I feel very fortunate to of worked for such a noble man and will always be grateful for all that he shared with me.
