Tiia Hughes

.Tiia Hughes (nee Rakfeldt) of Newfane, NY, entered into rest while visiting Cape Coral, Florida on February 24, 2016. Born in 1942 in Haapsalu, Estonia, she was the second of three children born to the late Ilmar and Miralda Rakfeldt.

A 1961 graduate of Newfane, Tiia married James Hughes in 1963 and was a wonderful mother to three daughters. A retiree of Harrison Radiator, she was an avid Bills fan, enjoyed doing crossword and sudoku puzzles with her husband, and treasured being a grandmother.

In addition to her loving husband, Tiia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Harvey (Jay Weber) of Newfane, NY, Yvonne (Stephen) Flynn of Fort Wayne, IN, and Barbara (Michael) Bornholdt of Lockport, NY; grandchildren Kyle and Justin Harvey, Ashley and Brock Flynn, and Theresa Bornholdt; brother Jaak (Kristi) Rakfeldt; brother-in-law Harry Klepp; sister-in-law Freida Leshinsky; and dear friend Dorothy Patterson. She was predeceased by her sister Helle Leetmaa Klepp and sister-in-law Mabel Hughes. Tiia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1-4pm on April 2, 2016 at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY with a funeral worship service to immediately follow.
