

Agustin Diaz Curiel, 82 of Sylmar, California, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2013. Born to the late Agustin Curiel Lopez and Maria De La Luz Alvarez Diaz on December 17, 1930, in Atenguillo Jalisco Mexico. Agustin was a seasoned budding and graphting technician, who migrated to the US with his brothers in pursuit of a better life. In a fateful trip home, he met his wife and their family began to grow. Children were a delight to Agustin. A passion that was evident in his esteem and love for his ten grandchildren.
Agustin’s commitment and innovation in the tree graphting area were of great importance. Even in his latter days his mention of graphting was constant. A skill of great worth, he was pivotal in the creation of many multi-species plants and trees.
Agustin was best known for his sense of humor. A constant jokester, he was often described as the life of every party. A trait passed on to his six children. He will be remembered as someone who enjoyed life to the fullest.
Agustin is survived by his children, Luz Curiel, Daniel and Erica Curiel, Agustin Curiel, Aaron and Valerie Curiel, Nancy and Ignacio Alvarado, and Valentine Curiel, as well as his grand children, Kelly Curiel-Bowser, Roman Curiel, Diego Curiel, Daniel Curiel, Aiden Curiel, Jacob Curiel, Natalia Alvarado, Cash Alvarado, Bella Curiel, and Ayumi Curiel. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Rosario Curiel, Hilario Curiel, Carmen Curiel Mariscal, Luz Curiel Mariscal, Pedro Curiel, and Socorro Curiel Rico. He also leaves behind many beloved relatives and friends.
Agustin requested a lively funeral with Mariachi to celebrate his love of life, joy, and music. His family wishes to thank all of those who loved and cared for Agustin in his latter years, including Maria Eugenia Curiel. Arrangements provided by Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Livingstones Church.
