Just saw that you had passed today. We worked together for a few tough years at Electric Boat. So glad to see that you had many good years of enjoyment. RIP Andy or enjoy golfing… you choose.

I remember coming into the church for Mass and he was always sitting at the back before going to his seat,  and I would look for him and give a tiny little wave to let him know I saw him. I miss his smile!

My dad
My dad was one of my best friends.
My dad was never ever sick in his entire life.
He was very strong.
He was from Rhode Island and he was one of the best golfers that ever played in that state
I went many times to Rhode Island on vacation (30 or 40 times if not more) and when my dad would see me at the airport he would ALWAYS say the same thing.
Did you bring your clubs !!! How are you son !! how was your flight?In that order always.
I played golf with my dad in every weather conditions possible and even when it was snowing.
The last words I said to my dad was

(Dad- tomorrow you will be playing golf) He looked at me and said really. That will be great. I said to my dad that the next time I see him it will be great too and I will bring my golf clubs.

I am so grateful to have my dad in my life for 62 years
I will play the game of golf that you taught me for the rest of my life.
One of last words that my dad said to me was! 
Steve- (you will never be the golfer that I am, but you are dam good.)
He said (fantastic job on being a good son and you are a great dad.)

I said- dad did I do a good job and make you proud of me !
He said- ( I am so proud of you son- I never thought you would be as successful as you are) that coming from my dad meant everything to me. My dad expected from me nothing less then perfection, and though I am not perfect, I tried as hard as I could to be just that.
Boy o Boy do I miss my dad
He had one hell of a good run in life and had is dream girl (my mom) by his side every step of the way
LOVE YOU DAD
Keep the ball in the middle of the fairway.
and I will always remember what you told me 1000s and 1000s of times.

 He said- ( hit the ground- you are trying to pick the ball up- i will keep my eye on your ball)
I had the best dad and golf coach on the planet. 
Thanks dad for teaching me golf , hockey and life. 
Thanks dad for teaching me how to be a great dad. 



I played to beat Andy Magiera. Now he is was 90 and I was 63, but that was a level playing field - neary 30 years difference! That is how good Andy was and how much of a handicap I needed just to stay on the course with him when we played for breakfast every Thursday. Andy's golf career needs no introduction to his friends and family. Multiple club titles in Rhode Island and Los Angeles and a bevy of course records that still stand today. At age 90, he'd stand in the tee box when many people sadly can't stand at all, and strong arm shots down the fairway with a little twitch of his hips, always landing his ball in the middle and always a little farther than it looked. "Did I make the fairway?," he'd crack after another perfect shot. "Hit the ground!" he'd admonish when a playing partner failed to take a divot. Around the greens, his chips were pure and his putter was gold. The picture above is from his last round of golf with his son Steve, grandson Stevie and myself on July 6, 2023. It was marvelous SoCal morning but Andy was struggling to move a little more than usual. When you consider what his body was battling in that moment, it was a remakable round. Plus he got to watch his son and grandson hit, a joy he told his son recently that kept him coming back to play even when he didn't have his 'A' game. RIP Andy and say hi to Ben Hogan, Al Geiberger & all the great golfers you played against and caddied for over the years. 

My love and prayers to you all.  91 seems like a wonderful life even though it’s never long enough!  I loved growing up with our large close family and know we’ll continue together in heaven for eternity 🙏❤️
