

Betty Mildred Reynolds, a long time resident of Valencia, California, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the Astoria Nursing Home, of complications resulting from vascular dementia. Mrs. Reynolds was 80 and had been in declining health for the past two years. She had been living at The Astoria Nursing Home in Sylmar, California since June of 2010.
Betty was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 9, 1031, to Orville Moore and Delores Woods Moore. She attended Beaumont High School in St. Louis, graduating in 1951. She married Gerald Joseph Reynolds of Ashkum, Illinois in May of 1953. Gerald and Betty moved to Georgia in 1954, where Gerald went to work for Lockheed Aircraft. The Reynolds family moved to Valencia, California in 1969. Gerald and Betty were divorced in 1986. At that time, Betty purchased the home in Valencia where she would spend the next 25 years.
Mrs. Reynolds was a longtime volunteer worker at the Food Pantry in Newhall. She received several commendations for her dedicated work there over the years. Betty was also an avid reader. Though her activity was limited in later years, she enjoyed hsopping and dining out with friends. For many years, she attended Mass regularly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church here in Newhall. She is survived by two sons and a grandson; sons Geral Joseph Reynolds Jr, of Stevenson Ranch, CA, and Terence Thomas Reynolds of Lake Elizabeth, CA; grandson Tyler James Reynolds (Terry's son), along with assorted niecesa nd nephews. Betty's ex-hyusband Geral Joseph Reynolds Sr, currently resides in Crescent City, CA. Betty also leaves behind a sister, Billie Jean Erard; and a brother, Orville Moore. Betty is also survived by two half-sisters; Delorece Abbott of Starkville, Mississippi, and Bernice Norris of St. Louis, Missouri.
