No one wants to write an obituary for their child but I read somewhere that the best way to do it is to just tell what happened to the person who died. The highlights of his life are being shared by friends and family on another page so I'll use this page to tell you all what happened.
Blake went bowling with Brian on Tuesday the 15th. He came home and woke in the middle of the night with an upset stomach. I always told him to be careful what he ate at the bowling alley, but he didn't listen. Anyway, all day Wednesday, he was sick as a dog with food poisoning. He laid on the couch and watched TV. He kept saying, 'Momma, I don't feel good." I fed him crackers and soup and lots of liquids. Later in the day, Emily brought him a bottle of Sprite to drink. He slept off and on all that day and went to bed early. On Thursday morning, he woke up feeling better. I went to church to do the bulletin and during that time he got dressed and went out to get the repair manual and a part for his car. He and daddy were gonna fix something on it when Mel got home.
Blake was coming home from the parts house on Palmdale Blvd. He took Sierra Hwy to avoid the traffic on the freeway at 3:00 in the afternoon. He was coming to the light at Ave R when a truck pulled out of the Union Pacific train yard on Blake's right. The truck crossed in front of Blake to go the opposite direction, the truck cut off another car that was going the opposite direction and cut him off. The car had no where to go and swerved into the oncoming traffic lane to avoid hitting the truck. Unfortunately, he hit Blake head on. Blake was badly hurt and rushed to AV Hospital. He had to have emergency surgery because there were so many internal injuries. Sadly, he was so badly hurt that the surgeon couldn't fix him before he died.
It was devastating to lose our baby boy, but he's in a better place and even though he is gone from our lives much too soon, we were blessed to be his parents and have him in our lives.
