

Emily was born in San Fernando, California on February 18, 1926 to Eddie and Emily Balsz. She lived in Newhall her entire life. Emily worked as a nurse's assistant at the old Newhall Community Hospital until she married Paul Schulthies in 1966. A few short years later Emily and Paul purchased a little house on Walnut Street in Newhall where they raised their family. Emily lived in that same house until just a few months ago. She loved her family, her dogs, and her yard full of roses.
Emily is preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul, of 22 years. She is survived by her daughter, Dolly Lopez (Tony) and two grandchildren, Lucas and Emily. She is also survived by numerous loving cousins. Emily's family wrote, "She is going to be missed greatly for her quirky quotes, her famous chocolate cake, and her good heartedness."
A Rosary will be said at Eternal Valley Mortuary on Wednesday, June 8, at 7pm. The Funeral Mass wil be held on Thursday, June 8, at 11am at St. Clair's Catholic Church in Canyon Contry, CA. A reception will follow.
