He was predeceased by mother Elvira Maria Alcantar. Ernest’s memory will live on with his beloved sister Gracie Mena (Salazar) and cherished brother Enrique Gomez, along with adoring nephew and nieces Brandon Mena, Maria Angelita Gomez, and Alana Gomez-Wagner. Many cousins, tíos, tías, and family members also honor his memory and remain his fans.
From a young age, Ernest showed his big heart and creativity through his actions and his drawings. He and his brother would rescue cats from the neighborhood to care for and love. He was a tough guy, but there was no doubt that he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His nephew and nieces always felt his love with a big hug and, later in life, by sharing an American Sign Language sign for “I love you”.
He was extremely funny and always wanted to laugh or make his family laugh, though he would never fall for his brother’s jokes for some reason. When it came to games, Ernest did not mess around. He was always down for a game of bones, and no one could break his concentration when the Price is Right was on. According to Ernest, he always had the best bet.
During any holiday, Ernest always brought the spirit. He was the funniest, most caring person. Ernest Cardoza is loved and missed greatly.
