

Gerald Joseph Reynolds of Crescent City, California, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020. He had been a resident of the Addie Meedom House Assisted Living facility in Crescent City for the past few months. Mr. Reynolds was 95 years old and had been in poor health for the past several years.
Gerald Reynolds was born in Ashkum, Illinois on August 27, 1925 to parents Robert Edward Reynolds and Julia Anne Gallagher. He graduated from Central High School in Clifton, Illinois in 1943 and joined the Army Air Force upon graduation. Upon his release from the military in 1946, Gerald attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a degree in engineering in 1950.
Mr. Reynolds began his professional career at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis in 1950, where he would meet his future wife Betty Mildred Moore. Gerald and Betty were married in St. Louis in May of 1953. Soon after, Gerald accepted a position with Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, Georgia, moving to nearby Smyrna, Ga., in 1954.
Gerald would work for Lockheed for the next 34 years, first for Lockheed Georgia (1954-1969) and then for Lockheed at the Burbank, California facility from 1969 to 1988, when he retired. Gerald and Betty were divorced in 1987.
Soon after his retirement, Gerald moved to Crescent City, California, where he would spend the next 31 years.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his son, Gerald Jr. and his grandson Tyler James. He was preceded in death by sons James Patrick (d. 1982) and Terence Thomas (d. 2016).
Funeral services are pending at Eternal Valley Cemetery in Newhall, California.
