The funeral service will take place at the same venue on March 21, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Guisela Marina Perez Calderon vivió su vida con valentía, autenticidad y un espíritu extraordinario. Era una mujer fuerte, segura de sí misma, amorosa y ferozmente independiente. Su presencia y su carácter inspiraban a todos los que la rodeaban.

Nacida en la Ciudad de Guatemala, hija de Zolia Monroy y Francisco Perez, Guisela fue la mayor de seis hermanos: Lolo, Chiqui, Tito, Josué y Carla. Desde muy joven asumió un papel de cuidado y responsabilidad, ayudando a criar a sus hermanos cuando su madre se mudó a los Estados Unidos. Esos años formaron a la mujer resiliente y compasiva que más adelante se convertiría en el corazón y la protectora de su familia.

A los 15 años, Guisela tomó la valiente decisión de mudarse a Los Ángeles, decidida a construir su propia vida. Mientras asistía a John Marshall High School, su personalidad fuerte y su habilidad natural para unir a las personas la hicieron inolvidable. Su pasión por la música, el periodismo y la comunidad la llevó a involucrarse en la escena musical local, donde organizó eventos y llegó a manejar bandas, dejando su huella con su energía, liderazgo y espíritu emprendedor.

A los 19 años conoció al amor de su vida, Julio Calderon, a través de amigos en común. Julio, con su Nova verde y su larga cabellera negra, quedó inmediatamente cautivado por la seguridad y el carácter de Guisela. Aunque ella valoraba mucho su independencia, Julio nunca dejó de luchar por su amor, y juntos construyeron una hermosa vida. De su unión nacieron sus dos mayores orgullos: su hijo, Alexander Reinaldo, y su hija, Guisela Tatiana. Durante más de 30 años de matrimonio compartieron una vida llena de lealtad, risas, música y familia.

Guisela fue una mujer trabajadora, dedicada y locutora de radio que siempre llevó con orgullo sus raíces guatemaltecas. Gran parte de su vida la dedicó a ayudar a los demás. Como directora de COFECA, organizó eventos comunitarios y recaudaciones de fondos para apoyar a quienes más lo necesitaban, porque para ella ningún acto de ayuda era demasiado pequeño. Disfrutaba reunir a las personas que amaba, ya fuera en un carne asada en el patio, una celebración llena de música o simplemente compartiendo momentos en familia.

Conocida por muchos como la tía divertida, amiga leal, madre devota y el pilar que mantenía unida a su familia, Guisela siempre vivió guiada por el amor, la generosidad y el valor. Su alegría, su risa y su gran corazón vivirán para siempre en todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Su amor, su fortaleza y su espíritu valiente seguirán viviendo en los corazones de todos los que la conocieron y la amaron.

Guisela Marina Perez Calderon lived her life unapologetically and with extraordinary spirit. Bold, confident, loving, and fiercely independent, she carried herself with a strength that inspired everyone around her.

Born in Guatemala City to her parents, Zolia Monroy and Francisco Perez, Guisela was the eldest of six siblings: Lolo, Chiqui, Tito, Josue, and Carla. From a young age, she stepped into a nurturing role, helping raise her brothers and sisters when her mother moved to the United States. Those early years shaped the resilient and compassionate woman who would become the heart and protector of her family.

At just 15 years old, Guisela bravely moved to Los Angeles, determined to create a life on her own terms. While attending John Marshall High School, her bold personality and natural ability to bring people together quickly made her unforgettable. Her passion for music, journalism, and community led her into the local music scene, where she organized gatherings and managed bands, leaving her mark through her fearless energy and entrepreneurial spirit.

At 19, she met the love of her life, Julio Calderon, through mutual friends. Julio, with his green Nova and long black hair, was immediately captivated by her confidence and fire. Though Guisela valued her independence, Julio remained determined to win her heart, and together they built a beautiful life. They welcomed their son, Alexander Reinaldo, and their daughter, Guisela Tatiana, who were the greatest joys and proudest accomplishments of her life. Guisela and Julio shared more than 30 years of marriage, filled with loyalty, laughter, music, and family.

A dedicated hard worker and radio host, Guisela carried a deep pride in her Guatemalan roots and devoted much of her life to helping others. As the director of COFECA, she organized community events and fundraisers to support those in need, believing no act of help was ever too small. She loved hosting gatherings — whether a backyard carne asada, a lively celebration with music, or a simple moment surrounded by loved ones.

Known as the cool aunt, loyal friend, devoted mother, and the glue of her family, Guisela led with love, generosity, and courage. Her spirit, laughter, and unwavering heart will forever live on in the many lives she touched.
