

Hazel Carlton Faucett was born July 16, 1939 in Taylorsville North Carolina to Luther and Ruby Carlton. She was the 6th child of 11 children.
The family moved to Berwin, West Virginia, where Hazel accepted Christ at the early age of 13. In Berwin is where she met many of her lifelong friends and church family. Hazel continued her education in Columbus, Ohio where she also worked to help support her family.
As a young adult Hazel drove her parents from Ohio to California and they were blessed to buy their forever home In Pacoima, California. In 1962, Hazel married her childhood friend, Robert E. Faucett (Bobby). Hazel and Bobby purchased their first home down the street from Hazel’s parents on Cometa. From this union three daughters were born Pamela Jean, Sybil Lynell, and Tara Lynn.
In 1970, Hazel started her career as a nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sylmar, California. After the 1971 earthquake, Hazel moved to the Sepulveda VA hospital where she would later retire at the age of 64 in 2003. Hazel was a devoted member and Elder of the Church of God in Jesus Christ. She loved and served the Lord wholeheartedly until her death.
Hazel enjoyed watching basketball and was a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan. Every year she made a point to cast her vote for the All Stars teams.
Hazel’s kindness and compassion allowed her to be a surrogate mother to many. Her heart was so big she became Granny to all who came in contact with her.
The evening of February 12th 2025 Hazel suffered a massive stroke. After several family meetings with prayer and discussion Hazel was taken home to Granada Hills. Hazel’s family rallied around her showering her with love and care until her passing on March 2,2025.
Proceeding her in death are her parents, Luther and Ruby Carlton; her brothers and sisters James, Berly, Hayden, Phyllis, Linda, Bessie, Billie Joe, John and Carol; her son-in-law Joseph Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory, her youngest brother Thomas Carlton daughters Pamela Jean, Sybil Lynell, Tara Lynn (David); Grandchildren Donte, DeAndre, Danielle and Kenneth; Great GrandChildren Kendra, Aniya, Deon and Kennedy; Goddaughter Leisha Hailey; The Derby Family and a host of Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and Friends.
