Henry Leonard Mathewson

On Friday, September 9th, 2022, Henry Mathewson, a loving husband and father of six Children and Grandfather of 12 grandchildren, suddenly passed away at the age of 59 at USC Hospital after battling cancer. He was born on March 26th, 1963 in Port Hueneme, CA, an adopted son of his late loving parents, Leonard and Dorothy Mathewson.

He attended Sylmar High School and graduated from the College of Oceaneering in ____ with the specialty of Non-destructive testing and worked in that field for 10+ years. For the last 3 years he enjoyed working as a driver for Eaze. He was baptized at the Foursquare Church in San Fernando. He met his wife, Jimi-Jo in late 1994 and joined his 4 children and her 2 children into a beautiful, loving family. They later married on November 11th, 2000.

Henry enjoyed fishing and camping immensely. However, his greatest love was his family. He was the happiest when he was able to go fishing while camping with his family. He also enjoyed building model cars and club houses for the kids. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was known for his infectious smile and was a kind and compassionate person. He loved old school rock music and was a collector of Led Zeppelin memorabilia.

He is survived by his wife Jimi-Jo, his 6 children, Trisha (Aaron), Sarah (Andre), Henry Jr., Christopher, Heather (James), Shana, 12 grandchildren, his brothers Tim (Cindy) and Charles, his sister Annette, and nieces and a nephew.

The funeral services are public. The viewing will be held on Thursday, October 13th, 2022 from 5-9 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in the Monarch Venue, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321. Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 14th, 2022 from 12:30- 1:30 p.m. at location above. Graveside Service will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park from 2-3 p.m. at 13017 Lopez Canyon Rd, Sylmar, CA 91342, followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 4 p.m. at the VFW located at 16208 Sierra Hwy, Canyon Country, CA 91351.
