Judith Blanks was born on October 17, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to the union of Henry & Elsie Blanks Sr. Judy was the third of 7 children born of to this union. Judy attended and graduated from Washington Technical HS in St.Louis, MO. She later attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and Muriel Business College receiving an Associate's degree.
In 1963 after traveling to San Antonio, Texas to assist her sister Barbara with her first child, she met Henry Jacobs an airman stationed at Kelly Air Force Base. On March 24th, 1963 Henry and Judy were married in St. Louis, MO. Judy was blessed to be able to help raise and nurture Henry’s two daughters, Belinda and Carmen. They relocated to Texas and remained until Henry’s separation from the military in 1964. They returned to St. Louis where their son Brian Christopher Jacobs was born. In 1968 the family moved to California where Judy worked as a Mental Health Counselor for Hillview Mental Health, providing counseling to homeless families and individuals on a daily basis. She enjoyed working with the homeless so much that on each holiday she would pick a family, donate money, food, and the clothing they needed to insure they were not without. Judy retired from the Mental Health industry in 1998, and the family moved to Henderson, Nevada.
Judy’s most enjoyable time of the year was Christmas. She loved being with her family and cooking. She especially enjoyed the time spent with family and friends, playing board games and card games. She also enjoyed reading, writing, and drawing.
God called Judy home on July 7, 2012, after an extended illness. Her father Henry Blanks Sr; Sister, Dorothy Vann and daughter Carmen Joseph preceded her in death.
Her memories will be cherished by a devoted husband, Henry Jacobs; mother, Elsie Blanks of Florissant, MO; son, Brian Jacobs (Lisa) of St. Clarita, CA; two daughters Belinda Lee (Robert) of Terrytown, LA and Nequette Jacobs Thompson of Carson, CA; three brothers Henry Blanks Jr. of Ferguson, MO, Richard Blanks (Cynthia) of Cataula, GA, and Gregory Blanks of Columbia, MD; two sisters Barbara Collins of Lebanon, IL and Cynthia Hendricks (Jackie) of Florissant, MO; her aunt Delphine Irving of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
The day we saw her sinking and watched her fading away, our hearts were almost broken, we wanted her to stay. But when we saw her sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, how could we wish her back with us to suffer that again. It broke our hearts to lose her, but she did not go alone, for part of us went with her the day God took her home.
WE LOVE YOU.
