Pauline "Yia Yia" Paras

Mrs. Pauline Paras ‘Yia Yia’, passed away on July 22, 2017, at the age of 90 years old in Panorama City, California. Born Nov 28, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Nicholas John Pulos ‘Papanickolopoulos’ from Nedousa, Greece and Mary Zakinthiou from Kalamata, Greece.

Pauline married the late Mr. George Michael Paras ‘Paraskevopoulos’ on June 14, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York. They moved to California in 1966 with their 3 young children son Michael, daughter Theone, son Philip. Philip later married (Jodi) and then they had a granddaughter (Mia) who was YiaYia’s Pride and Joy.!!!

Survived by sister Theone ‘Toni’ Panagakos and brother Andrew, in-laws Chris Pefanis, Spiro Aloupis and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her brother John, sisters Stella Petraglia (Larry), Florence Aloupis and brother in law Nick Panagakos.

Pauline lived in Brooklyn and spent part of her summers at the beach, the rest at the family’s farm in Holmdel New Jersey where they grow greens for the Florist Industry. Her family enjoyed entertaining and surrounding themselves with their relatives. Pauline worked at Prentice Hall Book Publishers in New York and New Jersey as a bookkeeper. In California, she worked at Bankhart Insurance as an Insurance Underwriter.

Pauline was Strong, Patience and Loving to all that met her. She enjoyed her family and friends and will dearly be missed by them.
