

Robert (Bob) was born on November 5th, 1948 in Burbank, CA to Robert Steward Coburn and Cathryn Rosebrooks Coburn. In his early years he lived in Canoga Park, CA and Chatsworth, CA, later moving to the Covina area. He graduated from Charter Oak High School and attended Mt. San Antonio Junior College. Bob started his employment career at Ralph’s grocery store as a box boy and worked his way up to non-foods manager. After Ralph’s, he was employed with Los Angeles County Road Department, where he stayed for 36 years, becoming a heavy equipment operator. Bob was often called to operate the road paving machine as well as the only snowplow in Los Angeles County.
Bob married Kathleen Joy Carlton on July 4th, 1977 and they had two sons, Matthew Drew Coburn and Jeffrey Lyle Coburn. He had a love for motorcycles and in 2015, embarked on a cross country trip, riding to the four corners of the United States with his former Superintendent and friend, R. W. Holmes. Bob enjoyed vacationing, especially on cruises. His biggest passion was hockey. He coached both of his son’s roller hockey teams and was a season ticket member for the Los Angeles Kings for 27 years. Bob was overjoyed in 2012 and 2014 when he witnessed the Kings ice hockey team win the Stanley Cup. Bob attended the North Oaks Church of Christ in Canyon Country, CA.
Bob leaves behind his spouse Kathleen, his two sons, Matt and Jeff, and a sister, Kathy Montoya. Bob also leaves behind 3 grandchildren (Annika, Anthony, and Avery), countless extended family, friends, and a special chihuahua named Rufus.
Bob will be laid to rest on January 30th, 2021 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park. The service will be held at 10am followed by a graveside service in the liberty garden area of Eternal Valley Memorial Park. All are welcome.
