Ron was a self-made man from the small town of Welland, Ontario, Canada where he, his brothers and father spent years on the travel baseball circuit. He was an avid golfer in later years and enthusiastic fan of the Lakers and Dodgers teams.
Ron’s life has been filled with adventures. Well-travelled, he was in China when it first began to open to U.S., he rode elephants in India and has a piece of the Berlin wall; he was there as it toppled. He was an esteemed executive and led large corporations and his own business, Irvine Optical Corporation, to successful growth and profitability. His work included merger and acquisitions, capital structures and product development in high tech industries.
Ron mentored many people that are today’s leaders and now they are passing on the tradition of mentoring to the next generation of leaders. Ron was the kind of guy that always wanted to share his success with others whether it was guiding, mentoring, offering financial support or a bit of humor in a rough situation; he was the guy everyone called.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathy along with his loving children, Emily Mercer, Greg McIntyre (Sukki), Jennifer Geissinger (late Troy) and Jody Burrus (Brad). He also shared his life and love with his siblings, Nancy Speranzini (late Larry), Jim McIntyre (Linda) and the late Donald McIntyre (late Beth). He was a proud, and joy filled grandfather to Maya Smith, Case McIntyre, Devin Smith and Grey McIntyre. With his grandchildren enjoyed binge-watching movies, laughing and learning who they were as individuals. Always the proud uncle, he kept close tabs on his beloved nieces and nephews (Sheryl, Barb, Erica, Don, Joe, Trish, Megan, Caitlin, Kelsey, Shannon, Jake, KJ, Johnny, Caroline, Ryan, and Abigail) along with his great nieces and nephews. Ron loved all his pets past and present.
He was a loving friend to many and best friends with Ed Ristan and predeceased Joe Olexivech and Larry Speranzini; there are stories we cannot say here about their fun filled adventures.
To honor his legacy and his love for mentoring and generous giving, we would appreciate your support in establishing funding to support small, medium and disadvantaged businesses in the Valley where Ron had his Burbank facility. Just as it is to all of us, supporting the small manufacturers was near and dear to Ron’s heart and of great importance give back to one’s community.
