WILLIAM BALLESTERO was born on December 21, 1933 to Frank and Rose Ballestero in Pacoima, CA. His siblings were Lizzy, Raymond, Ernie, Frank, Dave, Manuel, and Charlie. He spoke fondly of his younger years when he picked fruit and vacationed with his family up north. In his teen years, 1950-51, he enjoyed running on the track team at San Fernando HS where he lettered.
William was very proud of his time served in the U.S. Army beginning May 26, 1958. He was awarded for being an expert sharpshooter. After discharge, William started working in the concrete industry where he was a mason and later a contractor. He enjoyed working outside with his sons and family.
William started his family life by marrying Lucy Espinoza. His children are Manuel, Mark, Michael, Matthew, MaryAnn, Monica, Maria, and Melissa. The family enjoyed camping, motorcycle riding, fishing, and many, many birthday parties. As time went on, the family grew and William welcomed sons-in-law, Vincent, Mario, Duran, and Danny; daughters-in-law, Lisa, Carol, and Natalie.
The family continued to grow when grandchildren were happily added. William became the proud grandfather to Naomi, William James, Michael Allen, Monique, Michael Manuel, Tianna, Matthew, Mia, Danny Jr., Marissa, Michael Matthew, Sabrina, Dylan, Mario William, and Mary. Also added was his great granddaughter, Isabelle. As a grandfather, he especially enjoyed sharing his sweet treats with his grandchildren. He loved them very much.
During the holiday season, William loved to play Father Christmas. The family home was always filled with bright lights, Christmas carols, and lots of presents. Adding more spirit during the grandchildren years, he became a suited Santa Claus spreading the Christmas spirit to all.
In 2004, William was baptized at the First Assembly of God in San Fernando, CA. He was very proud and at peace with this event in his life.
William's final days were spent at his home surrounded by his family who loved and adored him. Services will be held Friday, July 15, at 1 pm at Eternal Valley Mortuary, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy., Newhall, CA. Arrangements under the direction of Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Newhall, CA.
