Billy Hoyt Pearson

Born October 14, 1937 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Laurel Von “Jack” Pearson and Irene Hawkins Pearson.

Bill was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Claremont, and the former owner of B&M Textile Sales. He was a mason and member of Riverside Lodge 606 in Catawba, NC, and Belmont Lodge 627. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion. He had also been involved in scouting and little league baseball.

Mr. Pearson is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Grimsley Pearson, and his brothers, Mitchell Pearson and Joe Pearson.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, “Mike” Pearson and wife, Teresa of Claremont, NC; daughter, Leslie Davis of Summerfield, NC; 4 sisters, Florence Bridges of Shelby, NC, Darcus Rollins of Shelby, NC, Stella Greene of Shelby, NC, Faye Owenby of Belmont, NC and 3 grandchildren, Paige Pearson, Trey Davis and Trevor Davis.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Pearson on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Garren officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Piney Grove Baptist Church prior to the service.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
