

A native of Iredell County, Carolyn was born to Frank Miller Leagon and Aileen Somers Leagon on August 26, 1937. Carolyn was a 1955 graduate of Newton-Conover High School. She attended Mitchell College in Statesville, NC and worked for Sigmon and Sigmon Attorneys in Newton. Carolyn was employed by Farmer’s Home Administration in Newton for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brothers, Frank Miller “Bud” Leagon, Jr. and Robert Vance “Bob” Leagon.
Surviving are brothers John W. Leagon (Johnnie) of Conover, George Raymond Leagon and friend Jewell Coulter, of Conover and sister, Sally L. Sigmon (Frankie) of Newton. Nephews include Mark Leagon (Tina) of Hickory, Jeff Leagon (Jackie) of Conover, Steve Leagon (Clara) of Thann, France; Nieces, Beth Leagon Carlin (James) of Plattsburgh, NY and Caroline Sigmon Ingle (Wes) of Conover; beloved great-nephews and nieces include Emily and Amanda Leagon, Evan and Ethan Merrill and Audrey Leagon, Sarah Favro and John and Leagon Carlin, Charlotte and Julia Leagon, Betsy and Georgia Ingle.
Carolyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Newton and was an avid reader who loved “her mysteries”. She enjoyed traveling in her younger years and cherished spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 10th, 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, Newton with Reverend Dr. Wallace Johnson and Reverend Fred Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Narthex after the service. A private graveside service be held at Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
