

Born June 22, 1925 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Samuel Cordie and Edna Plonk Lutz. He worked for Carolina Freight in Cherryville for 20 years as a carrier driver and Carolina Freight in Conover for 15 years in sales. He was the National Driver of the Year for 4 years. Mr. Lutz was a member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church in Dallas, NC and attended St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Claremont for 20 years. He was also a member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge 505 and Catawba Valley Traffic Club. The family would like to thank the staff of Conover Nursing & Rehab for their care and also the many friends for their visits, prayers and support.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Houston Lutz; and a sister, Catherine Lutz.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Charlsie Moser Lutz; children, Vickie Beam and husband Wesley of Dallas, NC, Clyde Dean Lutz and wife Ginger of Lincolnton, Maria Wright and husband Trent of Claremont, Vanessa Arndt and husband Gary of Claremont, and Bradley Little and wife Kim of Claremont; grandchildren, Matthew Beam and wife Ashley, Jesse Beam and wife Randi, Zachary Beam, Ashley Arndt, Lyndsi Sigmon and husband Wesley, Erica Bernardt and husband Bernie, Morgan Wright, Ashley Queen and husband Billy, Kelly Scott and husband Brendon; great grandchildren, Jackson, Davis, Emma, Braylon, Luke, Drew, Trey, Ashleigh, McKenna, Kalobe, Cassie, Noah, Sawyer and Kimber; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Helderman and husband Jim of Dallas, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Claremont, NC with Rev. Gary Haddock officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Philadelphia Lutheran Church Cemetery in Dallas, NC with Rev. Gary Weant officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
