In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Honermann in 1992.
She is survived by her daughter, Katie Honermann of Newton; sister, Karen Kustesky of Newton, and sister in laws, Beth Ampe (Edward) of Minneapolis, MN, and Jane Sanders (Jim) of Seattle, WA
Katie would like for her mother to be remembered in this way:
She was an animal lover: owned multiple dogs and cats, loved to birdwatch especially the hummingbirds when they were in the area.
Avid gardener: took pride in taking a seed to a producing crop, grew many flowers/tomatoes/green beans/squash, just enjoyed having a garden in general.
Loved to read: I think her favorite book is Green Darkness by Anya Seton, and would end up buying many books whenever she went into to bookstore.
Loved to work with her hands: things like sewing/knitting/crochet, and tried getting into learning how to make quilts.
She was a double amputee, but found lots of inspiration in our three-legged cat, who is also an amputee, in wanting to relearn how to walk and get out and enjoy life and not let her amputations keep her down.
Enjoyed the thrill of traveling: loved to see places she had never been before, we both ended up falling in love with the Badlands of South Dakota (it's really beautiful there and we saw a wedding in progress there when we last went), encouraged me to take a trip to Europe back in 2007.
