

She was born on a farm in Duplin County, North Carolina, the daughter of Stephen Eric Judge and Annie Cordelia Bostic Judge. After high school, she attended the Hardbarger School of Business in Raleigh, NC and worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers, first in Wilmington, NC and then in Savannah, GA. In 1950, she married Emory Brinson (Dick) Daniel of Savannah. After living in Athens, GA while Dick completed his studies at the University of Georgia, the couple returned to Savannah where they owned and operated a family owned pharmacy for 30 years. After selling their business in Savannah, she and Dick relocated to Tarboro/Rocky Mount, NC area and then to Hickory, NC where they resided for the last 10 years.
In addition to working in their family business and raising a family, Doris spent many hours volunteering in church and hospital programs while in Savannah and the Edgecombe County Arts Council and Blount-Bridgers House as well as Heritage Hospital while in Tarboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Emory Brinson Daniel and her brother, Floyd H. Judge of Rocky Mount, NC.
Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia Leigh Daniel of Hickory, NC; son, Emory Stephen Daniel and wife, Margaret (Peg) Parker Daniel of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Mary Grey Daniel of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Emory Stephen Daniel, Jr. and wife, Melissa MaryAnn Daniel of Fargo, ND; sister, Peggy Ann Lyon of Rocky Mount, NC; sister-in-law, Pat B. Judge of Rocky Mount, NC and sister-in-law, Reba Bowen Daniel of Savannah, GA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2015 at Trinity Village Chapel, 1265 21st St., NE, Hickory, NC 28601, with Chaplain Tom Cogan officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
The Daniel family is grateful to the entire staff of Trinity Village, especially the Memory Care Staff, for the quality of life provided during the last months of her life and appreciates the love and music which always brought a joyful smile to her face.
