

Born November 8, 1954, in Ashe County, he was the son of the late Robert Doyle Hartsoe and Mary Lee Richardson Blackwood. Lanny was a life-long member of East First Street Baptist Church. He was a 1973 graduate of Newton-Conover High School, and a 1977 graduate of Catawba Valley Community College, obtaining two associate degrees in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Hartsoe was a member of the Denver JayCee’s in the 1980s. He worked at Duke Power Company for 15 years designing sprinkler systems, Lowe’s Home Improvement for 4 years in the plumbing department, and then for Gaston Sprinkler for 15 years designing sprinkler systems. Lanny was dedicated and loyal to his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved science fiction. He will be remembered by others with a smile. He loved his two dogs, Daisy and Sparky.
In addition to his mother, Lanny is survived by his sister Sharon Eve Hartsoe and husband Ronald Armstrong of Conover; special nieces and nephews, Robert Vega of Conover, Lydia Vega Mora and husband Alex of Hickory, and Victoria Jackson of Conover; special great nieces and nephews, Angelica Mora Vega and A.J. Mora Vega.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Christ Alive Church in Newton with the Pastor Mark Ivey and Pastor Mike Vanderburg officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5:00 to 5:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
