

Born December 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Earl Monroe Punch and Pearl Punch.
Loy was a member of Old St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he was a former deacon and member of Men’s Brotherhood. He retired from the furniture industry, working at Haupt Mfg., Bracewell Furniture Co., and Hickory Frye Furniture Co.
He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his sons play sports. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and was passionate about sharing in their lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Jo Hunt Punch; and brothers, Gene Punch, Ted Punch, and James Darrell “J.D.” Punch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dennis Loy Punch and wife, Pat of Newton, NC, Dr. Jerry Lee Punch and wife, Joni of Knoxville, TN; brother, Darvin Punch of Vale, NC; sister, Betty Travis, of Conover, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Scott Punch and wife, Heather of Claremont, NC, Patrick Kelly Punch of Newton, NC, A. J. Punch and wife, Katy, Jerry Punch, Jr. and wife, Charity, Alex Punch, Casey Punch, Jessica Punch, Logan Punch; great grandchildren, Hunter Punch, Kaitlyn Punch, Layla Caudle, and Sophia Punch.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Old St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newton with Rev. Robert Sain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Hunter Punch, A.J. Punch, Jerry Punch, Jr., Casey Punch, Logan Punch and Doug Punch will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 in the Fellowship Hall.
