Born January 29, 1929 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Allen Hunt and Katie Poovey Hunt. Rachael was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and was a retired school teacher from the Lincoln, McDowell and Catawba County School Systems.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Hunt Bradshaw and Annie L. Hunt and two brothers Glenn Harvey Hunt and Cyril Hunt.
Rachael is survived by her sisters Genell Smrye of Newton and Constance Keisler of Conover.
The family wishes to express thanks to her nephew Jim Hunt and his wife Lois for the special care given to her during her declining health.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m on Monday January 28, 2013, at Catawba Memorial Park. Pastor Scott Bollinger from Mt. Zion Lutheran will be officiating.
Memorials are to be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
