Theresa Beauvais, age 83, recently passed away in Newton, North Carolina, after a brave battle with ALS. Her life will be celebrated with a funeral mass at 12:00 pm on Friday, May 5, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newton.
Terry was born to Neree and Aurore Gelinas in Manchester, New Hampshire. While studying to become a registered nurse she met and fell in love with George Beauvais, who worked at an amusement park where she and her friends often went to roller skate. Terry and George subsequently married and spent 54 wonderful years together, first in New Hampshire and later in North Carolina. Terry is survived by her children, George Beauvais Jr. (wife Linda) of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and Karen Register (husband Jim) of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jennie and Alex; her siblings Irene Adams (husband Lyle) and Robert Gelinas (wife Phyliss), and George’s extended family who blessed her with many kindnesses during her final, difficult years. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Terry’s life was spent in the service of others, initially as a recovery room nurse and later as a home health nurse. Until prevented by declining health, she was active in her church and community and worked as a volunteer for numerous organizations. Terry and George traveled widely during their years together and enjoyed learning about the food and culture of the many countries they visited. Terry enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing cards with friends. She was a selfless mother with the heart of an angel, always placing her family’s needs and comforts above her own and always looking for a way to brighten someone else’s day. Her positive attitude in the face of the difficulties she endured during her final years was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her family and friends will always cherish Terry’s beautiful smile, fun-loving spirit and engaging warmth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton, NC with Father Jim Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
It was Terry’s wish that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Monastery of the Precious Blood, c/o Sister Mary Rose, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, NH, 03104.
