Thua Ngoc Nguyen

He was preceded in death by his father, Pham Van Nguyen; sister, Lac Nguyen and his first wife, whom he also loved dearly, Phyllis Rikard Nguyen.

Thua is survived by his wife Theresa Schrum Nguyen of Newton. Theresa has loyally remained by his side with much compassion and support thru his illness. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Joshua Seagle of Charlotte and Chance Seagle of Newton; stepson Kirby Dellinger of the home; daughters Crystal Blake and Lee Shade of Newton; Mother, Mai Nguyen of Virginia. Also surviving Thua is sisters, Hahn Nguyen and Tham Garris (husband Tommy) of Virginia; brothers Triew Nguyen of Georgia, Phue Nguyen (wife Carla) of Hickory, Tam Nguyen (wife Kim) of California, Ho Nguyen (wife Phayvanh) of California; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Thua graduated from Culinary Institute of America and fulfilled his lifelong dream as a chef. He was very passionate about cooking and entertaining both at work and his home.

Thua always had a smile and gentle nature with his family and grandkids. He once drove through a snow storm to pick up a grandchild, when asked why, he simply replied “I promised him I would come to get him”.

His children want to especially thank Theresa for never leaving his side and loving him.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
