

Charles, known to most as “Ed”, was born on March 26, 1943 in The Bronx to Charles William and Ingrid Johanna (Syring) Sundheim. He was raised in NYC, graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School before attending Maine Maritime Academy to become a midshipman. During the Vietnam War Ed served as a naval aviator and continued flying another 18 years in the Naval Reserves. Professionally he worked as an engineer in utility power generation in the United States and South America. His personal time was dedicated to his family, recreational boating and motorcycle trips. Ed was a member and deacon of Grace, the Church on the Mount, and in later years attended Lafayette Federated Church.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife Anita (Andrews) Sundheim, whom he married in 1965; his children, Charles Eric Sundheim (Amy Murphy) and Jennifer Joan Sundheim; his grandchildren, Rainey, Elias and Anika Sundheim; his granddaughter Evaline Nystrom; his brother, Robert William Sundheim and his son-in-law, Andrew Nystrom. Along with his parents, his daughter, Carolyn May Sundheim-Nystrom, predeceases Ed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Lafayette Federated Church, 180 NJ-15, Lafayette, NJ 07848.
