It was with much sadness that I read of the passing of Dale Kobler. Mr. Kobler was a family friend and as a child I often waited after school at his gas station for my parents to pick me up.
My father told me of Mr. Kobler's outstanding athletic achievements at Newton High School and I watched him nurture and develop the wrestling program at Pope John XXIII HS during my tenure there as a young teacher.
Mr. Kobler was always kind and helpful. He was respected and admired by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May he rest in peace.
