Born and raised in Andover, New Jersey, Gary was the son of Floyd R. and Isabelle (Kent) Heller. Gary was a proud 1970 graduate of Newton High School, where he excelled in wrestling, football, and lacrosse. After earning his degree from Ohio University, Gary returned home to marry his beloved wife, Linda (Phelps) Heller. Together they lived in Stillwater, New Jersey, and raised their two children.
Gary dedicated many years working for Roysons Corporation in Rockaway, New Jersey, before retiring. Outside of work, he found joy in his passions for photography, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Throughout the years, Gary remained an avid supporter of local wrestling teams, always ready for a spirited discussion about their progress.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Linda, son Toby, daughter Liana and her husband Daniel Hennings, and his cherished grandson Cooper. Gary is also survived by his siblings Jeff and his wife Debbie, Denise, and Michael and his wife Danielle; as well as extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private family service was held on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Smith McCracken Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to High Point Wrestling (PO Box 699, Branchville, NJ 07826) or to Newton High School (memo - in memory of Gary Heller - 57 Trinity Street, Newton, NJ 07860) honoring Gary's dedication to the sport.
