Greg was born in Ames, Iowa on November 8, 1958, to Fred and Elaine Joyce Stetzel. He grew up in Wayne, New Jersey. Following high school, Greg attended Rutgers University and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He went on to receive a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Sherman College. He opened his practice, Branchville Family Chiropractic, in 1986 where he continued to serve his community for over 37 years.
Greg was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He achieved the rank of 2nd degree blackbelt.
Service to the community and the profession were important values for Greg.
He was awarded the highest rank of Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout, in 1976 and later dedicated many years to serving local Boy Scout troop 180. He was a member of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce; the Branchville, Frankford, and Lafayette Chamber; and longstanding member of the Chamber Wellness Committee. He loved to play the trombone and was thrilled to be involved with The Franklin Community Band, with whom he played for 25 years.
He was very active in the Chiropractic profession as well, serving in various leadership positions in the Garden State Chiropractic Society and the International Federation of Chiropractors and Organizations (formerly the FSCO). Greg served on the New Jersey Board of Chiropractic Examiners and dedicated much time and energy to his alma mater, Sherman College of Chiropractic, via recruitment efforts and as a career adviser. He was honored to be inducted as a Fellow of the College of Straight Chiropractic as well as receiving the Philosopher of Chiropractic Award from New Beginnings.
The beloved husband to Dr. Kim Stetzel, Greg is also survived by his mother, Elaine Joyce Stetzel; his children, Dr. Billy Stetzel and his wife, Katelyn, and Dr. Danielle Stetzel; his granddaughters, Avielle and Vienna Stetzel; and his siblings, Mark Stetzel and Sharon Giammetta and her husband, John.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Smith McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton NJ followed by a brief memorial service. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at YMCA Camp Linwood MacDonald, 1 Flatbrook Road, Sandyston, NJ.
