Robert was born to Robert and Juliana (Koji) Matacotta in New York City and was a resident of Great Neck, NY before moving to Frankford, NJ in 1981.
Robert was a US Army Veteran proudly serving his country in Berlin, Germany. Followed by his military service, he spent the majority of his career as a Hospital Administrator in the New York and New Jersey area prior to his retirement. In his retirement, Robert enjoyed spending time with family and friends, in particular his three grandchildren.
Robert had a great gift for connecting with people no matter where he went, whether he was sharing a fishing story, discussing historical facts, showing off his latest antique treasures and his model train collection. His warm presence and genuine laughter made him a beloved figure in every community he was a part of.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Marshall) Matacotta; his sons, Steven (Lisa) and Kevin (Shara) Matacotta; his brother Gerald Matacotta (Barbara); and his three grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, and Tobias.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11am at Frankford Plains United Methodist Church, 99 Plains Rd, Augusta, NJ 07822.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s honor to Frankford Plains United Methodist Church.
