Ed was born in Morristown to the late Walter and Nancy (McKnight) Conrads. He grew up in Andover on the Caspersen Farm, and then moved to Newton and Fredon before moving to Stillwater 29 years ago. He graduated from New ton High School in 1960 and graduated from Dover Business College in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. Prior to his retirement, he was a Co-Owner of Mill Garage in Newton, car salesman and Co-Owner of C&E Tavern in Swartswood. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post in Branchville. Ed loved racing jeeps and enjoyed everything related to cars. He was a member of the East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association and a member of the Boondock Blazers, racing his 454 Chevy Block Jeep Commando and his sprint car from Dover, Delaware to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Long Eddy, New York and many other parts of Pennsylvania.
Ed is survived by his companion Connie Hotalen, his daughters; Lynn Madden and her husband Steve and Lisa Conrads, his grandchildren; Stephen Madden, Jr. and Sarah Madden, his brother; Alfred Conrads and his companion Mary, his nephew Ed Conrads and his wife Dana, his niece Theresa Stank and her husband Rob and his extended family; Annette Gebauer and her husband Sean, Bryce Gebauer and his wife Larissa, Chandler, Brayden and Chauncey Gebauer, Cindy Yanish, Terry Woods and her husband Jeff and Denise Galloway and her husband Gus. He will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4-6:30 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10 a.m.
