Alessandro Nappa

With his loving family by his side, Alessandro Nappa passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu Shaver, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of 95. Beloved husband, soulmate, and love of his life to the late Lidia (née Imbimbo), who passed away in 2020. Loving Father to Sabina (Frank) Tropea and Antonia (Tim) Smeaton. He was a cherished Nonno to James Nappa, Smeaton and Robert Alessandro Smeaton, who always brought a smile and joy to his heart. He is survived by his brother in Italy, Paolo Nappa (Lia). He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio, Nappa and Sabina Nappa (née D‘ Oria), his sister Ersilia (Ninuccio), his sister, Iole (Antonio) and his sister Anna Nappa. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Anna (Carmine) Ianniello, in Canada. Fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada.

Born in Atripalda, Avellino, Italy, Alessandro immigrated to Canada in 1963 with his loving wife, Lidia. He worked for the Niagara Parks Commission for over 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed watching his favourite sports; football, baseball and soccer, as well as listening to opera music. Some of his hobbies that he enjoyed were gardening, fishing, making wine, and taking long walks outdoors. One of his passions was baking, various pastries, which included Cannoli, Babà Napoletano and sponge cakes topped with fruit. A special thank you goes out to the doctors, nursing staff and PSW workers at Hotel Dieu Shaver. A heartfelt thank you as well to the palliative care team for all their wonderful care and compassion during our father‘s final days.

The family will receive friends at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St., on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Funeral liturgy without mass to follow at 2 p.m., the Reverend Father Paul MacNeil officiating.
