Allan Cass West

It is with great sadness that the family of Allan Cass West announce his passing on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Portal Retirement Village in Port Colborne. Allan was in his 90th year and is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, June (nee Hanna), his daughter Arlene and her husband Randall Garrett. Allan was a cherished “Gampy” for his grand-daughter Elizabeth Garrett and her partner Russell Ohrt and for three great-grandchildren, Finnegan, Elias and Beatrix Ohrt, of Hamilton.

Allan was born and lived in Niagara Falls and was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church. He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Second World War. Allan retired from Cyanamid Canada Inc., Welland Plant, in 1986, after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Legion. Golfing was a passion and he enjoyed his membership at Rolling Meadows Golf Club. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Elizabeth and Leonard West.

Relatives and friends are welcomed at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave. Niagara Falls on Sunday September 25th 2011 from 4-6p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday September 26th at 2:00 p.m with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

If desired, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Allan’s memory may be made to the charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
