It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Carmine. After bravely fighting liver cancer over the last three years, he passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2026, at the age of 83.
Our Dad was a giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who always put family first. He worked tirelessly over the years to provide for his family and worried about everyone more than himself. He was our rock.
Carmine is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Laura; his son Anthony (Robin) and his daughter Lucy (Nick) Sturza; and his beloved grandchildren – Jeremy, Drew and Everett. He is also survived by his brothers Donato (Elisabeth), Giuseppe (Coronata) and his sister Assunta (Rocco); and his sisters in law Lucia and Maria. He is predeceased by his parents, Leonardo and Lucia, and his beloved brothers, Paolo and Antonio. He will be deeply missed and remembered by many family members and friends across Canada, the United States, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Saposochin and Nurse Practitioner Holly Thompson and the whole UHN & Princess Margaret team, as well to the Walker Family Cancer Centre and Dr. Tharmabala and her team, whose support was incredible over the last few years. Finally, thank you to the Ontario Health at Home team – Johanna, Caitlyn, Megan, Heather – you are our heroes and made his last days comfortable and dignified. We are deeply grateful.
Visitation will be held at Patterson Funeral Home at 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, Ontario on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Fairview Mausoleum.
