It is with profound sadness we announce Dave’s unexpected passing following a ruptured aneurysm, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength. Beloved husband and best friend for 57 years of Carol. Cherished Dad of Jennifer McDowell (Bryan Keenan). Devoted and proud Grandpa Dave of Brady David Keenan. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Macel McDowell. He is remembered with love by his extended family, including a sister, brothers-and sisters-in law, and generations of nieces and nephews. Dave will be greatly missed by his feline companion Lily and his many friends he’s made along the way.
Dave worked 42 years at General Motors, and in retirement he spent his time in the outdoors he loved, with fishing and travel among his greatest pleasures. He and Carol especially enjoyed traveling with Jen’s family and all the memories they were able to create through the years.
Honouring Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and was entrusted to Patterson Funeral Home. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date. More details will be provided. In keeping with Dave’s genuine generosity, memorial donations directed to Ozanam Centre (St. Catharines’ soup kitchen) would be most appreciated by the family.
